I had some leftover homemade spaghetti sauce in the fridge from the other night and decided to use it up for dinner tonight. I did not want plain old spaghetti again so I decided to jazz it up a bit and bake it. And this is what I came up with.
Baked Penne Marinara
(Source: Amber's Delectable Delights )
Ingredients:
8 oz penne pasta
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1-2 cups spaghetti sauce
1 Tbls butter
1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Cook and drain pasta and mix with ricotta cheese. Place in bottom of small baking dish.
- Place desired amount of spaghetti sauce over the noodles. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese
- Melt butter in small saucepan (or in the microwave) and mix with breadcrumbs.
- Top spaghetti sauce with breadcrumb mixture and Parmesan cheese (if desired). Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes or until sauce is bubbly and breadcrumbs are browned.

Looks good, it sometimes seems those throw together dinners are the best!
Kind of a take on lasagna with the ricotta - sounds like a good way to use up the sauce!
Looks awesome! Good way to use that leftover sauce too.
I love tomato sauce the next day and baked with my favourite shape, penne!
Great inspiration!
OK That is it! I can no longer look at these postings... I am too HUNGRY.

How come I never get any left overs?
Looks yummy and easy. Those throw together leftover meals I love.
Yum! Sounds great!
yum! I might try this tonight. I was going to make regular spaghetti, but DH complains about it. So, this is a way to trick him into it! hahaha
That Penne looks really tasty, I'm going to have to try this one. I'm always looking for new things to do with leftover sauce.
Thanks so much!
