These truffles are very easy to make but can often be time consuming when it comes to rolling the balls and dipping them into chocolate - especially when you are making three batches like I did. If you are making more than one batch of these I would suggest only mixing up the cookie/cream cheese (milk) mixture one batch at a time. If the mixture sits for two long it starts to dry out and is very crumbly and hard to roll into balls.
Oreo truffles are always a hit with everyone, especially my husband the Oreo lover. I have to try to keep him away from them or he will eat them all and they will not end up making it to their recipients. This recipe seems like it is quickly becoming a holiday classic, it's like an epidemic. Don't be scared though, it's a great epidemic to be a part of.
Oreo Truffles
Adapted from : Kraft Foods
Ingredients
1 pkg. (1 lb. 2 oz.) Oreo cookies, finely crushed
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened *(see variation below)
2 pkg. (8 squares each) semi-sweet chocolate or 1 pound almond bark, melted
Directions
1. Mix cookie crumbs and the cream cheese until well blended. Shape into ~50 (1-inch) balls.
2. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet. (Any leftover melted chocolate can be stored in tightly covered container at room temperature and saved for another use.)
3. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Store any leftover truffles in tightly covered container in refrigerator.
*Variation - For truffles that do not need to be refrigerated use 1 can of sweetened condensed milk instead of the cream cheese.

Haha. I agree though - they're so good, but quite time consuming. I made them twice last year as well. Used the variation you did too.
I made Oreo truffles over the weekend for the first time. They are so yummy! Yours look great! Love the extra drizzles of white/dark chocolate on top!
We must hand out in the same places! I caved and made these this weekend and now I'm officially the only person on the planet not in love with the Oreo Truffle, or Cookie Bomb as I called them.
I love the variation! I have yet to jump on the oreo truffle bandwagon, but have been wanting to try these forever! Thanks for the idea!

They looks great. I love the variation of using the condensed milk!! What a great idea-thanks for that tip. I didn't make these this year...Even though he loved them, my husband begged me not too because they are so messy. We had chocolate covered hands last year...haha.
